Engagement – this is where it starts!

Once, the engagement took place in a bride’s parents’ home. Today it is in good taste to organize a dinner in a home of a future bride or a restaurant. An invitation to this ceremony should be initiated by the bride’s parents and addressed to the groom’s parents. Both parties should take a good care of the atmosphere, evening outfit and assigning places for the invited guests.

Very often both families are not familiar with each other. In that case the future newly-married couple should take a good care to introduce them to each other. The meeting should start with a chat on general subjects. This is a good moment to serve aperitif and appetizers.

During the meeting the man should make his future bride an official declaration of his feelings and give her an engagement ring in the presence of the family.

It is worth to remember that the engagement ring should be put on the middle finger of the left hand.

After the official part of the meeting, further conversations may be held. This part of the meeting is perfect for the settlement of the wedding date, place and circumstances of the wedding, destination of the honeymoon trip and other issues related to the event.
